B2B prospecting platform
Development of a B2B prospecting platform on WordPress
Iotaweb designed and developed ContactLook, a private business application integrated with WordPress. From the name of an international group, it identifies its subsidiaries, finds the local decision-makers and enriches their professional contact details, which are sourced, verified and exportable.

Finding the right decision-maker in the right subsidiary, without wasting funds
Our client supports sales teams prospecting large international groups. Their challenge: quickly identifying a group's subsidiaries in specific countries, then finding the local leader (CFO, Managing Director, Finance Director…) rather than the head of the parent company.
The data exists, but it is scattered across official registries, annual reports, and paid enrichment services with varying costs, quotas, and formats. A single, private, and controlled tool was needed.
The requirements of the specifications
- Search by group, subsidiary, former name or trade name, from 2 characters
- Country of headquarters separate from countries of subsidiaries, with "rest of world" option«
- Decision-makers identified by function, subsidiary and country
- Email and phone enrichment triggered separately
- Mode 100 % free or free + paid, costs displayed before each call
- Segmented user accounts, server-side controlled quotas
- History, contact records and CSV/TXT exports
- No fabricated data: sources and dates preserved, contradictions displayed
A 5-step process, from the group to exportable contact
ContactLook guides the user step by step. Each step reuses the results already obtained: no search is restarted unnecessarily.
- To researchSeizure of a group or subsidiary, or exploration by country without company name.
- MappingParent company, intermediate holdings and subsidiaries, with a reliability index per link.
- TargetSelection of subsidiaries, countries and 1 to 3 desired functions.
- EnrichEmail or phone on request, with verification and trust score.
- ExploitContact records, history, change tracking and export.
A complete business application, integrated with WordPress
Mapping of groups and their subsidiaries
The engine cross-references several official sources to reconstruct a group's hierarchy: direct parent, ultimate parent, consolidated subsidiaries, and subsidiaries declared in annual reports. Each link displays its level of confirmation, its source, and its date.
- Autocomplete sorted by relevance, group size, and selected country
- Subsidiaries cross-referenced between sources to avoid homonyms
- Pagination and batch processing for very large groups
Identification of local decision-makers
The search targets each subsidiary in its own country. Equivalent titles are recognized from one language to another (Geschäftsführer, Director Financiero, Managing Director…) and only public professional profiles, accessible through authorized methods, are used.
- Distinction between local manager and group manager
- Contradictory posts displayed with their sources, never hidden
- Adding a decision-maker directly to a case
On-demand enrichment and cost control
Two separate buttons, "Enrich email" and "Enrich phone number," trigger only the desired search. The cost is estimated and confirmed before any paid call, and the tool warns you when a contact is already known.
- Only one supplier is contacted per request, from cheapest to most expensive.
- Standardized, deduplicated, and dated coordinates
- Trust score: consistent sources, recency, verification, contradictions
Contact files and exports
Salespeople create their own lists by mixing contacts from several companies, rename them, filter them and export them with a single click. Each export is logged.
- Private folders per user
- Export CSV and TXT with source and date of each data point
- Recognition of a connection between several research projects
Quotas, change tracking, and mobile version
The administrator assigns authorized sources, tests connections, and sets monthly server-side limits. A module compares new data to old data to flag changes in management, contact information, or subsidiaries. The interface remains accessible on mobile devices and during meetings.
- Credits and quotas per user per month
- Before/after comparison and targeted update
- Responsive interface with its own visual identity
Robust, secure and scalable
The engine is a standalone WordPress plugin, with no external dependencies or compilation steps. Pages remain fully editable by the client within Divi.
Divi-compatible shortcodes
A universal shortcode exposes each view (dashboard, search, results, history, folders, etc.). Isolated CSS to avoid any conflicts with the theme.
Authenticated REST API
Over 30 WordPress REST routes protected by nonce and user permissions. Data segregation between users is guaranteed on the server side.
Versioned data repository
Approximately twenty dedicated tables. Each data point includes its source and date; contradictions are preserved, never overwritten.
Asynchronous treatments
Idempotent task queue, server-side scheduled tasks and controlled restarts: a paid call is never duplicated.
Security and GDPR
Encrypted keys in the database, SSRF protection, connection limiting, no-secret logs, versioned terms of use and non-indexed site.
Automated tests
Thirteen suites of self-tests (end-to-end search, enrichment, folders, rights, data exposure), caching and logging of each call.

Reliable data rather than abundant data
ContactLook replaces manual prospecting spread across multiple tools with a single, traceable, and cost-effective process. Teams know the origin of each piece of information, when it was collected, and its cost.
The client retains control over their site: they create and lay out their screens in Divi, while all the business logic remains encapsulated in the plugin.
What the project brings
- Fewer premium-rate calls thanks to caching, deduplication, and warnings.
- Local decision-makers, by subsidiary and by country
- Complete traceability: source, date, verified status or not
- Segregated accounts and controlled quotas
- A solid foundation for adding new sources or views

FAQ: Developing a B2B prospecting tool on WordPress
Is it possible to develop a B2B prospecting tool on WordPress?
Yes. WordPress provides account management, access control, and a robust REST API. By developing the business logic in a custom plugin, you get a high-performance private application that the client can then design themselves using their page builder.
How to control the costs of paid enrichment APIs?
ContactLook combines caching, deduplication, server-side controlled user quotas, cost estimation before each call, and warnings when a recent contact number already exists. Only one provider is queried per request, from lowest to highest price.
How can we guarantee the reliability of the contacts found?
Each data point retains its source and retrieval date. Conflicting information is displayed side-by-side instead of being hidden, and a confidence score takes into account consistent sources, recency, and verification. No missing data is fabricated.
Does the project comply with the GDPR?
The application is reserved for B2B professional use: versioned acceptance of the terms of use, data segregation by user, legal information, site not indexed by search engines and purging tools for the administrator.
How long does it take to develop an application of this type?
ContactLook was completed in 15 business days, from analysis to production deployment. The timeframe depends on the number of sources to be connected, the access provided, and the options selected; we provide a precise estimate after reviewing the specifications.
